The journey begins with a stitch
My journey into the world of toy repair began at a very young age, guided by my mum, who taught me the magic of turning flat fabric into complete 3D items with their own character and life. When my own children formed strong attachments to their toys, which inevitably became very ‘loved’, I felt compelled to keep those special friends alive for them.
Teddies and toys often become our first confidants, our secret keepers, and our emotional support through all the benchmarks of our lives. I am honoured to be trusted to become part of those journeys, helping to maintain the bonds between owners and their cherished companions.
Our unique approach to preservation
When you entrust me with a repair, it’s not just about fixing a problem; it’s about preserving a cherished past. It may be that your mum had darned some areas to shore things up – those are precious parts of history that I would like to keep. Together, we can explore how to retain those unique elements that define your friend, whilst ensuring I can give them a good, strong future.
Every stitch is carefully considered in line with the owner's wishes, sympathetic to the age and original fabrics of the item. I try to honour the past while ensuring a future.
Who we help, and why it matters
I have met all sorts of wonderful owners, from a toddler and their comforter, to a family member with an antique Steiff teddy bear that spent the war years hiding in a loft with his owner. Anyone can form a bond with a toy, and I’d be proud to help maintain that bond by keeping their cherished friend in one piece.
Whether it’s a modern plushie or a treasured antique, we understand the emotional value these items hold. Our goal is to preserve these treasures, especially in our 'disposable' modern culture, and help retain all the memories and support these special friends give us.
